Chef Rudy is at the helm in our kitchen and after sampling some of his signature dishes you’ll understand why we’d have no one else preparing your dinner!
Chef Rudy, our executive chef, was born and raised in Virginia. Rudy received his culinary arts degree from J. Seargent Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia. He has applied his skills in service to Champions Sports Grille, Coyote’s and Mulligan’s Sports Grille all of Richmond before relocating to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama in 1998. Rudy’s by the Bay, Star’s and Gulf Shores Bistro & Bakery are the restaurants who enjoyed Rudy’s talents before joining the team at Sunset Cork Room.
We absolutely love the way Rudy came into our family. It was April 2004 and we were getting ready to open the doors to Sunset Cork Room for the very first time. We had been looking for a chef who would share and implement our vision for a small, intimate, upscale fine dining establishment while keeping a local friendly objective. He developed a menu with this in mind and for his interview put on a show. We filled the restaurant with local dignitaries, chamber members, friends and families and Rudy prepared a meal to remember. Needless to say, he is with us today and is as much an expression of this restaurant as we are.
